Fremantle Media, one of the largest international creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world, wanted a powerful media player that could be deployed on Britain’s Got Talent and future Fremantle Media productions without prohibitive licensing costs.
Our media player gave Fremantle Media outright ownership and with it the freedom to integrate with ITV and numerous other platforms, serve a broad range of their ad-servers and incorporate third party analytics packages.
Through early workshops with Fremantle Media and the CMS partner of Britain’s Got Talent, Friends were able to establish the technology specification of the project whilst also developing the creative brief for the design and usability of the player.
The bespoke media player that we created uses flash technology to allow for many editable features and intuitive states, enabling certain aspects of the player to adapt automatically in response to client and advertiser needs.
Crucially the design of the media player reflects the brand guidelines for the Britain’s Got Talent show and is also completely re-skinnable allowing total redesign and re-badging of the existing player for other projects. By creating a completely bespoke skinned version of the player for 2009 Britain's Got Talent Media Sponsor Carphone Warehouse - carrying the Carphone Warehouse branding - Friends demonstrated the capacity of the player to form a vital element of a corporate sponsorship deal.
The launch of the media player in the 2008 Britain’s Got Talent website was an immediate and overwhelming success with over 1 million page impressions and almost 350,000 videos served in the first week. Owing to the phenomenal volume of returning visitors the site has served over a quarter of a million videos with every subsequent transmission.
