There are times when you push the envelope to create something truly innovative, this was one of those times! Artist Shezad Dawood’s British and Pakistani roots are reflected in his works. Appropriating many of his ideas from modern European and American aesthetics, Dawood generates a critical examination of identity.
While spending time with him in an early design workshop, we discussed how the artist develops work, and the relationship a series might have with the next. We became obsessed with the idea of an exploratory interface that seeks to connect strands of thought with related works and texts. The result is a mini-universe where the artist can himself create new connections online and create new projects at the drop of a hat. Getting it to work in flash in 3D was another challenge altogether...!
